This map is on the southern facade of the tower, along rue Etienne Marcel. It clearly shows that the Tower of Jean Sans Paur was built on the northern part, in the countryside, outside Paris. In our opinion, restrictions should be made on the totally circular tower. As a matter of fact all the other kown towers had an outside protuberance, for defense purposes. the builders would economise by not building a circular wall that would have had no strategic purpose on the inside of the wall.
