the wall > left bank >68 rue du Cardinal Lemoine

This is the current aspect of the wall, beautifully decorated by the Maison du Caucase, whose owners have hung a genuine Georgian dress from the XVth century

68 rue du Cardinal Lemoine, the owners of the "Maison du Caucase" have a room on the other side of the yard which is at the back of their exhibition gallery. When scraping the bottom wall they found what is most likely a part of the wall stretching from the rue Descartes to the rue Clovis.

The bonding of the stones can be surprising as it is quite different from what is found a few yards further in the private yard with its entrance n° 62.

It is a common fact that Charles V, when he added a dry ditch to the fortification has taken the wall (adding parapets, loopholes, general consolidation), which were in a poor condition. We may thnik that this by itself has changed the bonding of the stones kown around in a significant way.
